Sharp increase in terrorist attacks in June

During June, 197 rockets and 21 mortars were fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip

The month of June saw a sharp increase in the number of terrorist incidents: 165 compared to 81 the previous month. The data was published in a monthly report released by the Israel Security Agency on Tuesday (July 3).

The largest increase took place in the Gaza Strip sector where 99 attacks took place, compared to 10 in May. During June, 197 rockets and 21 mortars were fired into Israel from Gaza, compared to four rockets and two mortars in May.

In both the Judea and Samaria and the Jerusalem sectors, there was a slight decrease in terrorist activity. There were 48 attacks in Judea and Samaria, compared to 50 in May, and there were 18 attacks in Jerusalem, compared to 21 in May.

Two Israelis were killed in terrorist attacks in June. One was killed in an attack on the Gaza border on June 1 and the other was killed in an attack on the Israel-Egypt border on June 18.

Seven Israelis were wounded in terrorist attacks in June.
